 According to the highlights of the Windhoek municipal council of the 14th of April 2022 ,Cllr Sade Gawanas Major of Windhoek, and her delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Erastus Uutoni ,Minister of Urban and Rural Development,on the (14 April 2022 )Cllr Gawanas expressed gratitude for the council’s ministerial support throughout the years ,including financial assistance in electrifying some portions of the informal settlements and the ongoing affordable housing project in partnership with other stakeholders such as Khomas Regional council and Namibia Housing Enterprise . Major Gawanas also briefed the Minister on a number of developmental challenges affecting the council ability to provide required municipal services in the face of socio-economic challenges such as high unemployment rates among residents. Vandalism of communal taps in informal settlements

 According to the city of Windhoek they have noticed the abuse and wastage of the free water supplied to the communities in our informal settlements.The community has been increasing in the number of vandalized communal taps in informal settlements since they are deactivated to discharge free water to residents in the face of Covid-19. Our public participation team ,supported by community Development committee (CDC) members ,held meetings this week in Windhoek’s Moses Garoab and Samora Marchel constituencies to educate residents on how to use water wisely at the communal taps .The meetings is on important intervention to install a batter understanding of importance if saving water “water is being watered ,especially in the informal settlements,and we need to change this behavior in our community “ a CDC member ,emphasized during the meeting .  According to the city of Windhoek all hands were on the deck at the Major clean up campaign held on Saturday in the Moses-Garoab constituency.The campaign aims to get the community directly involved in cleaning their surroundings and ensuring that they are free from littering and pollution speaking at the occasion,Windhoek Major Cllr.Sade Gawanas expressed how she felt about the community and stakeholders who took part in the campaign and support the city’s initiative and efforts geared towards reclaiming Windhoek’s cleanest city in Africa .
